SUMMARY:Celebrating "Women in Business" Workshop
DESCRIPTION:PICKING UP THE PIECES \n\nEveryone faces challenges at some point in their life.  Many of us have family and friends who help us deal with disappointments in our personal lives.  Small business owners and career women are often left wondering what to do and who they can turn to when things fall apart at work.\n\n\n\nIn this interactive session\, Chantal Fraser will give examples of proven strategies and techniques that can help you pick up the pieces when things don't go as planned in your career or business.\n\n\n\nHEALTHY YOU\, HEALTHY BUSINESS \n\nFour local business women\, working in fields that can help people deal with the stresses of being in business\, will each give a short presentation about how different activities such as Yoga for Round Bodies\, Poetry\, Chi Kung breathes\, and telling your skin story can lead to increased health.  \n\n\n\nFollowed by a brief question and answer period.  \n\n\n\nEveryone attending will have the opportunity to try out at least two of the activities immediately following the talk.\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker bio   Picking up the Pieces\n\nChantal Fraser founded Empowered Path Inc. in 2012 with the goal of helping individuals\, businesses\, and communities thrive.  Chantal speaks about a variety of topics including: non-traditional careers for women\, storytelling for career success\, networking\, and helping organizations become more inclusive by advising how they can attract\, hire and retain people from under-represented groups.\n\nIn addition\, Chantal leverages her experience as a leader\, human resources professional and entrepreneur to coach individuals going through career transitions and offers personalized business coaching.\n\nChantal serves in a leadership role as the Chair of the Quinte & District Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) Chapter\, as the President for the Trenton & District Business and Professional Women's (BPW) Club and as the Communications Director for Aboriginal Veterans Autochthones (AVA). \n\nChantal holds a CEGEP D clar t in Science and Engineering and a BA in Business Administration from le Coll ge Militaire Royale du Canada and an MBA from the Royal Military College of Canada.\n\nwww.empoweredpath.ca\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker bios   Healthy You: Healthy Business\n\nJocelyne Granger is a Certified Life Style Consultant offering a variety of services from her Willows of Meyers Creek studio in Trenton and at locations throughout the Bay of Quinte region.  Jocelyne helps clients learn and practice gentle physical activities by instructing Tai Chi and Chi Kung classes.  She adapts the classes so that people of all abilities may participate and benefit.  In addition\, Jocelyne makes use of an IMRS (Intelligent Magnetic Resonance System) and the Mitzvah Technique to help clients recover from illnesses and injuries that have been diagnosed by medical practitioners.  These services may be delivered to the client in their own homes or from the Willows of Meyers Creek studio.\n\nJocelyne's journey into Wellness started in 1975 with the study of Yoga.  She began practicing a variety of martial arts in 1987 after suffering from what the medical establishment called a "burn out." \n\nhttps://thewillowsofmeyerscreek.ca\n\n \n\nJulie Sweeney is a client-centered\, solution-focused counsellor who specializes in supporting clients in finding freedom from shame\, anxious thoughts and negative coping habits. Julie offers openness\, honesty\, and a willingness to be part of your journey in a way best suited to your needs. In 2017 she decided to become a Yoga Teacher to support her work and extend her reach to helping people feel better in their bodies.\n\nThrough a HAES-based lens aimed at helping clients feel less alone in their struggles with body image\, Julie offers people the opportunity to develop new skills and ways of thinking. Outside of her specialty with body image and self-esteem\, she also works with clients experiencing anxiety\, focusing on self-care and changing negative coping habits. Julie works with clients one-on-one\, in workshops\, and in groups   both in person and online.\n\nJulie enjoys helping people become aware\, gain insight\, and move into action to create lasting change.\n\nhttps://www.juliemsweeney.com\n\n \n\nDharmini (Dee) Thiru was born in SriLanka\; lived a complicated childhood (civil war\, abuse\, homelessness)\, and graduated with a bunch of degrees\, feeling completely unequipped to adult in real life. Her first career was as an elementary school teacher in the Peel Region.  Her Kindergarten students inspired Dharmini to re-think her beliefs\, values\, lifestyle and ideas. The universe then gave Dharmini the "just right" push to take life-altering steps to pave her own path as an entrepreneur.\n\nDharmini dived head first into an endeavour she knew nothing about.  She found entrepreneurship 100% addictive and all-consuming. Everything she learned\, mastered\, struggled with and was defeated by was equally exhilarating. Now located in the Bay of Quinte\, Dharmini is the founder/co-founder of a handful of brands including Beauty Barlour (an online entrepreneurial platform) and Skin Theorist Co. (a company manifested to make holistic care inclusive and accessible to transform skin and skin attitudes). Dharmini's brands are part of her evolving blueprint for a holistic wellness platform.\n\nhttps://www.skintheorist.com\n\n\n\nAbena Beloved Green uses spoken word to create\, engage\, and elevate. Her poems address cultural\, social\, and environmental issues\, relationships\, and reflect on everyday life as a small-town raised\, semi-nomadic\, first-generation Canadian. She was the third place finalist in the 2017 Canadian Individual Poetry Slam (Verses Festival of Words) and the 2016 poetry prize winner of the Writer's Federation of Nova Scotia's Nova Writes competition (formerly\, Atlantic Writing Competition).  She competed in the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in 2011 and 2016 as part of the Halifax Slam Team.
