While it makes sense how the sharing economy has grown in our modern age, our government is still bogged down with questions on how to regulate such a new order that by definition operates in a completely free market environment. Furthermore, established industries such as hotels and taxi services, are being threatened by the rise of these new companies, and are using their influence to try to convince lawmakers to crack down on the rise of sharing economy companies.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Quinte West & Belleville Chambers of Commerce have called upon governments to move quickly and boldly to ensure that Canada and Ontario realize the full potential of sharing the economy.
