About Us

The Community Development Council of Quinte (CDC Quinte) is a non-profit, charitable organization serving Hastings and Prince Edward Counties since 1989. Our focus is food security—ensuring residents have consistent access to healthy, affordable, and nutritious food. With approximately 1 in 4 households struggling to access fresh produce and infant formula, the need for affordable, community-based solutions continues to grow.

We operate five core food security programs designed to increase access, affordability, and self-reliance:

1. Good Food Box – Low-cost fresh produce boxes available to anyone, with no needs assessment required.
2. Baby Box Program – Affordable infant formula and essential baby items to support families with young children.
3. Community Dinners (Prince Edward County) – In partnership with local agencies, we deliver community meals in areas identified as food deserts to improve access and reduce isolation.
4. Community Gardens – Shared growing spaces where participants learn to grow their own food.
5. Food Depot Distribution Network – Community-based pick-up locations that improve rural and neighbourhood access to affordable food.

All programs operate on a dignity-based, self-sustainability model. Participants pay a nominal fee, allowing them to stretch their food budgets while maintaining choice and independence.
