About Us
Walt's Sugar Shack is owned and operated by Jane and Brian Walt. It is situated on the Earle Walt Farm on North Lakeside Dr. Consecon, Ontario. The shack is located on the north end of the farm facing Salem Rd.
The Earle Walt Farm has been in the Walt family since the early 1800's. John Butler Walt ( great grandfather) and Earle Walt (grandfather) farmed the woods and property taking care of the Maples for many years.
The first sugar shack was built in 2000, using a tarp and fire-pit and gathering sap by pails with approx. 40 taps. A few years later using a wood fired homemade evaporator. In Aug of 2012 the Walt's Sugar Shack was doubled in size and finished both inside and out to its current state.
Today we have a total of over 1000 taps and a new wood fired evaporator that was installed for the 2013 syrup season.
We welcome past and new visitors from February till April and off season by appointments. Come and enjoy our new gift cabin, we have a variety of special maple gifts and baskets featuring our finest syrup.
Come out and enjoy the fun activities we have lined up for our guests and a Pancake/Maple Sausage Breakfast.
